The sanctions bill targeting Russia, Iran and North Korea that the United States Congress passed almost unanimously in the last week of July is a flagrant violation not only of international law, in that it decrees that U.S. law must also apply to sovereign foreign countries, but also of the American Constitution, as it severely narrows the President’s power to define and carry out foreign policy. The intent of the bill is clearly to torpedo the Trump Administration’s efforts to improve relations with Russia. That, in turn, seriously heightens the danger of thermonuclear world war.
The political climate in the United States has become increasingly volatile and dangerous, fed by the frenzy of demonizing President Donald Trump as a dictator, a greedy self-serving incompetent, and even as an agent of Russian President Vladimir Putin. That culminated last week in the shots fired at Republican Congressmen and their aides during a baseball practice in Alexandria, Virginia. Among those hit was U.S. Representative Scalise, the third-ranking member in the Republican leadership in the House, who remains in critical condition.
The March 31 issue of the EIR weekly magazine provides an exhaustive historical, political and economic investigation of the “Deep State” which is currently deployed to sabotage the potential of the Trump Administration. The “Deep State”, as defined by the writers who actually coined the term, is the post-World War II entity consisting of Wall Street and London’s banks and law firms, the state intelligence agencies they created and staffed, controlled corporate media, foundations, and think-tanks — a structure which intersects organized crime and certain sponsored politicians.
The future of the United States as a constitutional republic is at stake in current showdown between the Trump presidency and the nexus of banking/corporate interests, secrets services, and politicians dubbed the “deep state”, which is now being escalated. Such is the warning published March 29 in Consortium News by William Binney, the original designer of a number of the National Security Agency’s surveillance programs before turning whistleblower, and Ray McGovern, a former CIA analysist specialized in Russia and the Soviet Union who prepared the Presidential daily brief in the 1980s. Both are members of the VIPS (Veterans Intelligence Professionals for Sanity).
Just days after the White House spokesman raised the issue of re-establishing the Glass-Steagall Act, the Vice-Chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation Thomas Hoenig spoke of bank separation, setting off a new wave of panic among the mega-banks.
“The atmosphere could hardly have been more uneasy between Chancellor Angela Merkel und U.S. President Donald Trump during her visit to the White House. No handshake for the cameras, next to no eye contact, strained faces for both of them. Not only is there no chemistry between them, but it is obvious that in the current trans-Atlantic geometry, no solution for the tensions can be found. There is nonetheless, a way out in sight, but it can only be found on a totally different, higher level: the win-win cooperation with China and the New Silk Road, which the United States and Germany have both been invited to join.”
Former US Ambassador to the Soviet Union Jack Matlock, who is also a leading scholar on Russia, warned in a post on his website March 4, that the U.S. threatens to become a “police state.” In reference to the assumption by so many media and politicians that any contact that President Trump’s supporters may have had with Russian Ambassador Sergei Kislyak and other Russian diplomats is questionable or even illegal, he writes:
On March 7, Harley Schlanger, who has been a close collaborator of American economist Lyndon LaRouche for many years, addressed an audience of some 100 businessmen and German reserve officers in Frankfurt, Germany, on the British-orchestrated coup against U.S. President Donald Trump. The event was organized jointly by the International Division of the Commissions of the Economic Council Hessen, a business association associated with the CDU, and the Reservistenkameradschaft of Frankfurt, on the theme “Who Is Out To Sabotage the ‘Trump Revolution’ and Why?” Schlanger was the only guest speaker at the event which was attended by 100 guests, half of them in uniform.
EIR News Service today pre-released a special report on Feb. 21 titled Obama and Soros Color Revolutions – Nazis in Ukraine, 2104, USA, 2017?, which will also be distributed at rallies on Feb. 23 in many cities in the United States as well as in Germany.
Immediately following the Feb. 16 press conference by Donald Trump, Lyndon LaRouche commented that if his presidency is to be successful, he must move quickly to re-instate Glass-Steagall bank separation and to rein in Wall Street, as he pledged to do during the election campaign. In fact, over the past weeks, as the threat of a new financial crash grows, there has been a surge of support in the United States for re-establishing a strict separation between deposit and investment banks, as mandated under the Glass-Steagall Act.
