Putsch in Washington: Special Counsel Mueller Under Fire from Congressmen

Nineteen U.S. Congressmen have drafted a letter demanding an investigation into the activity of Special Counsel Robert Mueller, who is spearheading the drive to contain or remove President Donald Trump from power, based on the absurd allegations that his election was the result of Russian operations directed by President Putin. The letter was addressed to Senator Chuck Grassley, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and Rep. Bob Goodlatte, Chair of the House Judiciary Committee, both Republicans. It represents the first official effort to challenge Mueller’s open-ended fishing expedition, which has expanded far beyond its original legal mandate, and has yet to produce a scrap of evidence implicating either Putin or Trump.

The letter charges that Mueller’s team

“has sweeping authority and an open-ended mission, yet they are allowed to operate largely in secret, selected by and ultimately accountable to only one person: Mr. Mueller himself.  With numerous reports emerging almost every day on possible conflicts of interest and allegations of political bias, it would be in the interest of both the public and the Special Counsel team to speak to the American people through their elected representatives in Congress.”

The release of the letter follows a mobilization by LaRouchePAC to saturate the Congress with copies of a devastating expose by EIR on Mueller’s career of service on behalf of British Intelligence and the Wall Street/City of London “Deep State” networks.  The title of the dossier is Robert Mueller Is an Amoral Legal Assassin: He Will Do His Job If You Let Him. It details his leading role in the Get LaRouche task force in the late 1980s, his role as FBI director in aggressively covering-up the Saudi involvement in 9/11, while coordinating with Deep State partners at the NSA and CIA the establishment of a surveillance state in the U.S., and his current assignment to lead the witch hunt against Trump, primarily to subvert the President’s effort to establish a collaborative relationship with Russia and China.

With the whole “Russiagate” narrative collapsing, Mueller is desperately looking for something to further his witch hunt. It is reported that he or his staffers recently met with “ex”-MI6 agent Christopher Steele, to revive his charges that Trump is being blackmailed by Putin. Ironically, while Steele is willing to meet with Mueller’s team, he refuses to appear before the Congress.

On Oct. 4, Senators Mark Warner and Richard Burr of the Intelligence Committee had to admit that, after reviewing thousands of pages of documents and interviewing hundreds of witnesses, they had found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. Nonetheless, they added they believe that the Russians must have meddled in the 2016 election because the intelligence agencies say so.

Mueller was originally brought in as special counsel following the firing of his successor as FBI director, James Comey, to investigate his dismissal as a possible obstruction of justice. As recent evidence, reported by the anti-Trump CNN, demonstrates that Comey repeatedly lied to Congress about surveillance against Trump and his campaign, the “Deep State” has been put on the defensive.  This new demand from Congressmen adds to the problem of legitimacy that Mueller faces.
